Look up any contractor on the Board's Contractor License Search before you sign. Licensed contractors must put their license number in every ad (NRS 624.720). NSCB Southern Nevada office: (702) 486-1100. (source: Nevada State Contractors Board) (source: Nevada Legislature)
What Nevada ads must show
- A person who is not licensed and advertises construction work or a work of improvement must say in the ad that they are not licensed.
- All advertising by a licensed contractor must include the company name and the contractor's license number.
- Using a license number that does not belong to you in an ad is unlawful.
- The Board can order unlawful advertising to stop and the phone number in the ad disconnected.
Which license to look for
Plumbers are licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board in classification C-1. Subclassification C-1d Plumbing covers water supply, sanitary waste and vent systems, roof drainage, hydronic heating up to 200,000 BTU, landscape irrigation, water heating (including solar), permanent gas supply, and medical gas, compressed air and vacuum piping. A C-1d licensee may also pipe water and gas from the edge of the building to the utility meter (NAC 624.190). (source: Nevada Legislature)
See C-1d plumbing license rules and how to file a complaint.
